She made our session feel just like we were hanging out with a dear friend who happened to be snapping pictures of us. It was such a fun and easy going experience.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO PHOTOGRAPHY?

I have always loved taking pictures! I'm usually the one with either my camera or my phone out, capturing memories and documenting life! I remember being excited when Facebook and Instagram came out so I had a place to post all the photos!

I took photography courses in college, but pursued the more corporate job with my art degree. When our son was born my husband surprised me with a "fancy" camera and told me I should pursue this, and I'm so glad he did! I had the most fun documenting his childhood and capturing those memories of pure joy!

After our little girl was born and we realized she needed more care, I left work to care for her full time (She is a miracle, heart warrior, medically complex and disabled beautiful little girl and I tell her story on her IG page: @theheartofsummerjane and we would love for you to follow our story!) My friend and mentor (also roommate for all of our many Charleston stays in the ICU) encouraged me to do photography on the side now that I had more free time. And I am so glad she did!

Taking photos of my own kids brought me joy, but I soon found that capturing joy for others is just the same! So I keep doing it when I can, because I just like to smile, smiling's my favorite! - Amy
